Hunter Functional Health - Family + Sports Chiropractic + Occupational Therapy
SPORTS CHIROPRACTIC + OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
We use a Chiropractic approach to assess, diagnose and treat neuro-musculoskeletal problems safely and effectively, whilst also drawing on Occupational Therapy's focus on empowering people to build their capacity to engage in the things that are most important to them in life, sport or work.
We use contemporary, evidence informed techniques to get the best results, in the safest and fastest way possible. Using the best of both these disciplines allows for an integrated approach to care that supports consistent results.
The Hypervolt is a state-of-the-art vibration massage device that relieves muscle stiffness and soreness, increases circulation and range of motion, and improves the overall health of the body's soft tissue.
Trigger point dry needling is a treatment technique, which uses small filament type needles to release tight muscles with the goal of permanently reducing muscle pain and dysfunction. It is effective in treating acute and chronic orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation is a new range of tool which enables clinicians to efficiently locate and treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue dysfunction.
Active Release is a soft tissue method that focuses on relieving tissue tension via the removal of fibrosis / adhesions which can develop in tissues as a result of overload due to repetitive use and may lead to muscular weakness, numbness, aching, tingling and burning sensations.
Compression floss is used to create positive subjective changes to our joints and soft tissues through compression + tension + movement.
These changes will often increase joint mobility, decrease pain, and speed up recovery. Thus, optimising performance and improving movement quality.
To improve joint movement, aid body awareness (proprioception) and desensitise inflamed tissues, these manipulations or corrections are generally used to aid individuals with pain, stiffness and associated symptoms like headaches, nerve irritation and referred pain.
At Hunter Functional Health, manipulations and mobilisation (low force techniques) are always used in conjunction with exercise and soft tissue therapy.
We use contemporary training and loading strategies as soon as we safely can, this means getting you off the table and back to the activity you want to do.
Loading strategies and exercise are the best way to get the most out of your treatment and build your bodies capacity to grow, helping you adapt to work, exercise and play. As well as with reducing the frequency or need for appointments.
Kinesio – taping
The Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.
