AARON HENNESSY (OWNER)

Aaron Hennessy is the only titled Sports & Exercise Chiropractor in the Hunter region and one of Australia’s few dual-qualified Chiropractors and Occupational Therapists. He has extensive experience working with athletes at elite events, including the CrossFit® Pacific Regionals, Sanctionals, Ironman® competitions, and as an Anatomy and Sports Medicine university tutor.

With a background in Strength and Conditioning, Pilates, Sports Medicine, and rehabilitation, Aaron brings a holistic approach to injury prevention and performance optimisation. He works with both athletes and individuals from all walks of life to enhance their physical capabilities, prevent injuries, and recover from setbacks.

At Hunter Functional Health, Aaron brings a unique blend of expertise – he also has a strong focus on paediatric occupational therapy, working with children on sensory processing, emotional regulation, motor skills, and developmental challenges, helping them thrive at home, at school, and beyond.

  • As a Sports Chiropractor, Aaron has served on the clinical service teams at the CrossFit® Pacific Regionals, Australian Championships, Ironman® events and has also worked across multiple Universities as an Anatomy and Sports Medicine tutor.

    He also holds post-graduate qualifications in Strength and Conditioning, Pilates, Sports medicine, rehabilitation, and various soft tissue therapies. He works with families and athletes to avoid or recover from injury, optimise function and build their capacity.

  • As an Occupational Therapist, Aaron specifically cares for children with musculoskeletal issues, developmental delays, paediatric development concerns and retained neonatal reflexes.

    He works with children and families to provide tools and strategies to better manage emotions, behaviour, sensory processing, social interactions, and self-regulation, as well as build their skills in planning, gross motor skills and fine motor skills so that they can thrive at home, at play and at school.

TOMMY COLTMAN

CHIROPRACTOR

Originally from North Yorkshire, England - Tommy Coltman is an experienced chiropractor with a First Class Honours degree from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic.

Following graduation, Tommy spent a year completing his post registration training with the Royal College of Chiropractors to further hone his clinical abilities. He brings a calm, proactive approach, combining hands-on treatment with movement, lifestyle, and neurological care.

Tommy takes a multimodal approach—blending manual adjustments, soft tissue therapy and functional exercise. He’s trained in a wide range of techniques including kinesio-taping, acupuncture, vestibular rehabilitation, and nutrition coaching.

He has a particular interest in complex presentations, including vestibular dysfunction, dizziness, migraines, sports injuries, and chronic pain. 

Tommy is very active himself and has turned his hand to many different team and endurance sports – it’s actually injury through contact sport which led Tommy to become a chiropractor. Whether you're recovering from injury or seeking long-term performance, Tommy helps clients build strength, resilience, and confidence in their bodies. 

He is trained in a wide range of techniques, including:

ABRAHAM TEDJAKUSUMA

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Abraham is a dedicated Occupational Therapist with a strong passion for supporting children and families navigating neurodevelopmental challenges. He works with individuals across the lifespan, with a particular focus on children experiencing developmental delays, retained primitive reflexes, coordination issues, and sensory processing differences.

A graduate of the University of Sydney, Abraham holds a Master of Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor of Health Science (Exercise and Health). His multidisciplinary background informs a holistic, client-centred approach, where therapy is tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals.

Abraham is an an advocate for collaborative, multidisciplinary care. He integrates innovative tools such as virtual reality, reaction lights, and laser-guided therapy to enhance treatment outcomes and engagement.

His expertise spans both paediatric and adult occupational therapy, with clinical interests including:

  • Learning difficulties

BIANCA HENNESSY

PRACTICE MANAGER

Bianca brings a unique blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and operational expertise to the team. With over 10 years of experience in advertising and creative agencies, she’s an expert in creating exceptional customer journeys. Her background spans project management, branding, copywriting and content creation across diverse sectors, from health and government to fashion, finance and FMCG.

As Practice Manager, Bianca is dedicated to keeping the clinic running smoothly while maintaining a warm and welcoming environment. She oversees clinic experience, team management, and day-to-day operations, all while ensuring the clinic’s communication, social media, and digital presence reflect the high-quality services Hunter Functional Health provides.

Bianca’s passion lies in making sure every client feels valued and supported, ensuring Hunter Functional Health is a place where people can trust they’re in the best hands.



LUCAS CARROLL

THERAPY ASSISTANT

Lucas is a final-year Occupational Therapy student at the University of Newcastle with a strong interest in paediatrics and child development. With additional experience as a kids’ jiu-jitsu coach, Lucas has seen first-hand how purposeful movement builds confidence, focus, and resilience in children.

 Working closely with our senior Occupational Therapists, Lucas delivers engaging, brain-based therapy sessions that blend movement, play, and skill development. Under the guidance of our clinical team, Lucas supports children to build essential skills in areas like emotional regulation, sensory integration, motor coordination, and planning—all through fun, movement-rich activities tailored to each child’s goals.

 Lucas brings calm energy, creativity, and a playful approach to every session. He’s passionate about helping children feel successful, connected, and confident in their abilities.
